Kayla stands at an average height and has long, dark hair. Sometimes she has a lighter brown color, but usually her hair color is brunette. She tends to straighten her hair, although every now and then she'll make it wavy to give her a different style. Kayla also loves to wear heels just about anywhere since they make her feel taller. She also tends to wear pastel colors all year long since they just look fun to her. During the spring and summer, she tends to wear tank tops and shorts everywhere since they're comfortable for her. She hates having to wear pants and long-sleeved shirts during the winter, but knows she has to. At work, she'll usually wear a pair of comfortable jeans and the work uniform shirt. Occasionally, her boss allows the waiting staff to wear shorts, which she gladly does.
Kayla is a very social and outgoing individual. She loves to talk to just about everyone. She also loves being the center of attention and have people focus on her. She loves being the most important person in a place, even if most of the time she is not. She's always felt somewhat unimportant, so she craves attention from just about anyone. She also is really impatient and doesn't have time for people who don't care. She loses her temper with them very easily. Kayla expects everyone to do their part, even if they don't. She gets mad at some of her co-workers at the steakhouse for slacking off at work, which usually makes her have more enemies than friends.
Kayla Song was born in Miduna Beach to Yun and Genevieve Song. Her father was in the navy and wasn't home when she was born. He still often talks about his regrets to missing her birth, but she understands his reasons for not being there. Plus, he was rarely ever home in the first place sine he was always away from home. Kayla's mother worked as a family practitioner at a small doctor's office in Miduna Beach. Her parents were both almost always away from her and she was practically raised by her aunt and uncle who lived next door to her family. Her uncle worked as a realtor while her aunt stayed at home. Her aunt and uncle didn't have any kids of their own, so they were always glad to take care of Kayla. Later in life, Kayla learned that they were unable to have children after they had adopted a kid.
As Kayla grew up, her father was able to come home a bit more often than he used to. He also was moving up the ranks in the navy and gaining more important positions. She and her mother were always proud of him, although they both definitely missed him all the time. However, Kayla had no idea that her mother was starting to not miss him nearly as much. One evening when Kayla was supposed to be at her aunt and uncle's, she came over to her house to grab her iPod that she had forgotten in her room. She walked into the living room and found her mother and her fellow doctor on the couch. Without saying a thing, Kayla went to her room, grabbed her iPod, and then went back to her aunt and uncle's. She never mentioned it to her mother or father, and plans to never do so. It's one secret that she'll keep to herself.
When Kayla was twelve, her mother made the announcement that was pregnant. At first, a few people were uncertain of how she had ended up pregnant since Kayla's father hadn't been around for almost three months, but Genevieve still claimed that Yun was the father. No one ever said anything about it, and simply agreed with her. Soon enough, Kayla had a younger brother named Jude. She loved her little brother a lot. She still believed him to be her half-brother even though her mother claimed differently. Her father also never said anything about the matter, but Kayla swore that even he doubted that the boy was his son.
When Kayla started high school, she began to try to think of what exactly she wanted to do with her future. She had little to no ideas, and all she could ever think of was maybe being a journalist. Even that sounded boring to her though. Instead, she decided to focus on her high school career. She joined the cheer squad at school and a few other little clubs. She absolutely enjoyed all of it. When she was in tenth grade, her father came home for a short little visit and with the announcement that was now a commodore in the navy. Kayla and her mother were both beyond excited for him, and listened to him talk on and on about how he was going to keep working and maybe one day be an Admiral. It was his goal, and he was certain he'd be able to reach it. During high school, Kayla ended up being rather popular around school. Most people knew exactly who she was. She went to almost every party and every game the school had. She loved being involved and was even in the pep club.
As time went on, Kayla was soon graduating from high school. She graduated in 2014, but was uncertain of what exactly she wanted to do with her life. She had applied to attend Barfield Community College and was accepted, but she applied to extend her acceptance for a year and took a gap year instead. She needed to rethink everything about herself and what she wanted to do in college. She ended up getting a job at Joe's Steakhouse as a waitress. It wasn't the most ideal job in the world, but she was paid enough. She was also able to think about everything she wanted to do with her life. For a while, she considered maybe becoming a nurse, but quickly decided against that. She also thought about maybe being a housewife instead, just like her aunt had been. That seemed more ideal to her. However, Kayla wasn't going to mention that to her mom who would have immediately disapproved of the idea. Kayla also is currently rooming with her best friend Tasha.
Kayla is the eldest child to Yun and Genevieve Song. Her parents were rarely ever around in her life, but she grew accustomed to it. Her relationship with them was never the closest one in the world, but she still does greatly care about them. They're some of the most important people in her life. Kayla also has a younger brother named Jude. He's currently six years old, and his birth is slightly scandalous in the family. Half of the family swears that Jude isn't Kayla's father's son, but the other half does. Nonetheless, Kayla loves Jude more than probably her own parents.
Since her parents were rarely around, Kayla was practically raised by her aunt and uncle. Her uncle, Joon Song worked as a realtor and was often around for Kayla. Her aunt, Sarah Bray, was a housewife and always spent time with Kayla. Kayla also has an adopted cousin named Logan who she loves like her own brother. To Kayla, her aunt and uncle and cousin are basically her first family. Her parents are never around much, but her aunt and uncle seem to always be there for her and Jude.
Kayla has tons of friends.
