Nicolas may come from a wealthy family, but he's never really liked dressing like he was. He usually wears an old t-shirt and jeans with holes in them. He'll go to thrift shops to buy his clothes. Plus, he thinks they're much comfier than the other clothes his parents like.
Nicolas has always been a bit of an odd character. Sure, he's always been very outgoing and extroverted, but most people tend to stay away from him due to his behavior. He's very reckless and impulsive, doing things whenever he feels like it. Around certain people, he's very cold and heartless, but around others he can be a bit more open. He never really opens himself to anyone, always keeping himself closed off. He never explains anything about himself, and most people find him to be a complete mystery. Still, he clings to socialization and expects everyone to listen to his wishes. He's a good liar and able to trick people to do just as he wants. Also, Nicolas is a very observant and intelligent person, even though he keeps those two on the down low.
Nicolas Santiago grew up in a wealthy home as the middle child. His parents were always too busy for their children, so they hired a nanny to take care of them. The kids always disliked their nannies, and would end up getting them fired after a few months. It was almost as if it were a game to the three Santiago children - a sport, you could say. The main reason the children were always doing this was to try to get their parents' attention. They wanted to be around their mom and dad, not some random men and women their parents hired to take care of them.
When Nicolas was thirteen years old, he came home from school while his sisters were staying after for a book fair that he didn't want to go to. His father thought he would be there, so he was at home with one of his many mistresses. Nicolas caught his father kissing another woman in their kitchen. He was shocked and was about to tell his mother, but his father stopped him. Nicolas knew a good way to get payback, so he bribed his father. Soon enough, his allowance went up by a few hundred dollars in order to keep him quiet. A few months later, he caught his mother with another woman and earned even more money for his allowance. He hated his parents for their wicked ways, but he was getting money out of it, so he was okay with it.
At the age of fifteen, Nicolas grew tired of his parents and the stupid nannies they continued to hire. Nicolas packed a bag and left his house in the middle of the night. He bought a bus ticket and ended up Vermont, far away from his home and family. His parents freaked out and tried to find him, but he had already saved up enough of his allowance to survive on his own for almost a year. His parents couldn't figure out where he had run off to and had to actually hire a private investigator to find him. After nearly seven months living in different states on his own, Nicolas was finally found in a small town in Nevada. He was sent back home and barely even published for being gone for nearly a year. His parents were glad to have him back and they stayed around the home for two months, until they went back to their old ways of ignoring their children.
Nicolas continued to feel hatred for his parents. He felt completely alone and left out from his family. All he needed was attention from them, but they were never going to give him that. When he was sixteen, he met someone who used marijuana. Soon enough, he was smoking it all the time and buying from his new drug dealer. He rarely spent his time at his house, always out at a friend's place or at a party with drugs.
Nicolas has never really gotten along with his family. He's always thought them to be completely useless and stupid. His father is a wealthy businessman and was always on business trips, never being around Nicolas to be a father figure. Whenever he was at home, he was too busy staying in his office to care for the rest of the family. His father was also cheating on Nicolas's mother, which Nicolas learned at a young age and was told to never tell anyone. His mother was no better and was also always busy at her own job. She was also having an affair with a few other people - mainly other women. The only reason his parents never divorced is because they didn't want to look bad to all of their colleagues and friends. Image is everything, right?
As for siblings, Nicolas has an older sister. She's always busy hanging out with her friends and going to the mall and parties. When she went off to college, Nicolas didn't even miss her. He never liked her in the first place. Nicolas also has a younger sister who is in the grade below him. He doesn't necessarily dislike her, but he doesn't really like her either. He can talk to her and hang out with her, but that's about it. She's just kind of a part of his life and isn't really important to him.
idk whenever losers decide i'll add this in
