Saul Vega is a tall man standing at six feet. He was actually taller than his father and older brother, which would always bother his brother who thought that he should be taller than Saul. Saul also has hair that is somewhat longer than the average man's hair, and it's usually messy and curly. He takes care of his hair, but doesn't put much - if any - effort in actually styling it. Usually, Saul has a lot of facial hair since he likes it. His wife Rebekah doesn't so much and will usually bother him to shave it. He'll shave about once every two months, and sometimes more if his wife is really annoying about it.
As for attire, Saul is very casual with what he wears. He doesn't go all out to dress up nicely, unless the occasion calls for it. Usually he'll wear a t-shirt with jeans because he swears it's good, comfy clothes to wear in case he ever gets called in for work. He also wears a lot of sweaters during the winter because he's not used to such cold air - even after years of living in the area.
Saul Vega is a very charismatic and charming individual. He loves socializing with others and being in crowds. He usually doesn't blend into a crowd like others might, but somewhat stands out. With a loud booming laugh, he can be very comical and crack jokes in an instant. Saul can have small talk, but soon enough in turns into a fun, energized conversation due to his passion and energy. One of his many passions in life has always been to help others, which is why he decided to become a firefighter. He has always went out of his way to help others in need, and he is still the same to this day. People in his life know they can easily rely on him since he's always doing his best to have their backs. He's very brave which is important for someone in his line of work. All he wants is to be able to help others and make their lives better.
Even so, Saul can be very unpredictable. People are never entirely certain what exactly he's going to be doing next. Sometimes he randomly starts getting wrapped up in volunteer work at shelters. He'll donate money to organizations without mentioning it to his wife, which usually ends up with him getting yelled at by her. Saul is very stubborn with his beliefs and thinks that they should always help others. Sometimes he forgets that he has himself and his family to take care of, and always thinks of the others around him. He can also be very boastful of himself and has a lot of pride in what he does. He's also finicky on occasions.
Saul Vega Romero was born in Casablanca, Chile. His father worked on a popular vineyard nearby the city while his mother stayed at home to take care of Saul and his older brother. It wasn't too much of a busy lifestyle for the small family. They all lived rather simple lives in their nice little house. For Saul, it was all easy-going and simple. He attended school like all of the other children and was able to make decent grades. When he was ten years old, his mother decided to help support the family by working as a bartender. It helped them get a little bit more money to afford nicer, newer items in their home. Still, for Saul, he felt that there was nothing too exciting about his home. Even so, Saul was able to easily make friends during his school years. During primary school, he was almost seen as the class clown by all of his teachers. They all believed him to be a trouble-maker, much like his older brother. Saul's brother Jeremiah had always been rowdy and loud in school. He had always caused trouble, so when Saul came along, the teachers expected the same from him. What they didn't expect was a comical young boy who sometimes had a soft spot for helping out his classmates.
Although he wasn't exactly the brightest student, Saul would often try to help his fellow classmates with homework. His teachers would usually sit around and watch as he explained different concepts - even ones he barely understood himself. They decided that he really was nothing like his brother. The teachers also helped Saul with his own studies since they noticed that he would sometimes do poorly too. Still, Saul was always trying hard to do well for himself and the others.
As he grew older in Casablanca, he felt there was really nothing special about himself or his future. During secondary school, he really started to believe that he had nothing to really look forward to. He expected himself to simply go into the same line of work as his father and do almost nothing else. He imagined himself working the vineyards for the rest of his life and going nowhere else in life. He slowly started to begin drinking while underage. His parents knew nothing of his new habits, and his friends didn't entirely know about it either. They knew he drank on the weekends, but they had no idea just how often it all was. He was only sixteen when he began his drinking habits.
When Saul was fifteen, he began dating a young woman named Rebekah Soto who was only a year younger than him. They began dating and quickly became a serious relationship. Even after he graduated school, the couple decided they wanted to continue seeing each other. However, once Rebekah graduated, she told him that she had been accepted into an American university called Lebeaux University. She was planning on attending school there. The two were going to break up due to the long distance that would be put between them, but after a few phonecalls and letters, they decided to get back together. She told him all about her life in the United States and all about her crazy professors and classes. He told her about his work on the vineyard and how he was saving up to get his own place for the two of them for whenever she returned.
During the time that Rebekah was away, Saul slowly began drinking more and more after being around his new coworkers and friends all the time. It was just something they all did and he'd drank a lot during his school years too. He saw no problem with any of it, until soon enough he was never able to stay sober. When Rebekah came back home over the winter, which was summer for where she was, Saul stopped drinking as much until she went back to the states for school again. He wasn't drinking due to Rebekah not being around him, but he wasn't sure exactly why he was. It just quickly became something that was a part of his life.
Finally, after four years, Rebekah graduated university at Lebeaux and came back down to Casablanca. She told Saul about how she wanted to attend the medical school at Lebeaux University. She told Saul about how amazing this city was and that he should move there with her. With the money he had earned from his job and the money she had from working on campus, they both moved to the United States together. Right before they entered the airport in Chile, Saul proposed to Rebekah. She said yes and the two began planning their wedding on the flight to Lebeaux. The young twenty-three year old Saul who had only ever known his home was amazed by the sights of Lebeaux. It was all completely different from his home and for a few months, he felt homesick. He called his mother every night to tell her of this new place. Rebekah and Saul also moved into a small one bedroom apartment nearby the university.
The one problem Saul had with living in Lebeaux was that he spoke very limited English. His mother had learned English as a second language and had been excellent with it, and she had taught him a bit when he was a child and teenager, but not nearly enough to speak to his neighbors and people he met. Saul felt like a complete outcast in this new place. Rebekah was always too busy with her schoolwork, but she tried at least once or twice a week to teach him more with English. Soon enough, the phonecalls Saul had with his mother became English tutoring lessons. Often times, he would get frustrated with himself and give up on learning. He would end up at a bar near his apartment building and spend most of the nights there. Soon enough, Rebekah figured out exactly what he was doing and tried to help him get over it. He told her he'd stop drinking, but he would always be lying to her. With the part-time job he had at a grocery store, he would use some of that money to buy himself drinks and hide them from her.
When Saul was twenty-six, he finally was able to understand and speak English much better. It had taken him a while, but he was finally able to understand. For a while, his English was very botched even if he understand it better, but he was still trying to learn the language. Also, he decided to get a new job as a firefighter for the local department in Lebeaux. He enjoyed his new job and it gave him something else to do with his time. However, he was still heavily drinking whenever he was off duty. Finally, Rebekah realized how much of a problem it had become. She would end up telling him to stop or else she was leaving. He didn't believe her, so he didn't stop his drinking problem. Within a week's time, he woke up one morning to find her gone and her stuff out of the apartment. He soon found out she was staying with a friend for a while until he could get himself back together. He tried to stop drinking and started to feel better about the whole ordeal. She came back after a few months to check up on him. She decided to stay with him again, telling him that he better keep himself together.
At age twenty-seven, Saul and Rebekah were finally able to get married. They had a small ceremony in Lebeaux during the summer. Their families were also able to fly up to the states from Chile to attend the wedding. Afterwards, they had a small honeymoon at a little inn a few hours away. It was nothing fancy since they couldn't afford much else, but it was still nice. A year later, Rebekah ended up pregnant. They hadn't been planning on having a child until after she was done with medical school. Saul told her he'd be fine with whatever she ended up choosing to do, but she decided she wanted to keep the child. During the time she was pregnant, Saul did everything he could to help her with her schoolwork, even though he understand basically none of it. Luckily, the child was due in the summer when she didn't have school. Their daughter was born in July of 2011 and they decided to name her Marina Vega Soto.
When Saul was thirty, he had his daughter who was a little over a year old and his wife had finally graduated med school and was working under residency. The two also were finally able to become legal citizens of the country after the long process. They had already gone through the five years with their green cards, but the rest of the mess had taken a bit longer for the two of them. Also, Rebekah began her residency work at the Barfield City Hospital, so the family decided to move to Barfield. Saul began working as a firefighter for one of the departments in Barfield. However, when he was thirty-one, he heard of a new job opening at the Blackwood Mountain Fire Department as a fire inspector. He learned more about the job and applied for the position. He was able to get the job and even earn a slightly higher salary than before.
Although Rebekah slightly opposed it, the family moved once again to a house in Blackwood Mountain. Saul wanted to get away from the city life and live in a peaceful setting again, so they bought a small house in the outskirts of the town. They moved to a house on a dirt road with a large piece of property as their backyard. When Saul isn't at the office, he spends his time in the outdoors playing with three year old Marina.
Currently, Saul has been working at the Blackwood Mountain Fire Department for a little over a year. He's managed to make friends with his coworkers. He also still has an alcohol problem, but he's been working on it. He's been sober for almost two months now, and he's hoping to not break that record for a while - or ever, if he's lucky. He also skips out on any work-related parties that his coworkers throw since he knows there's usually alcohol there. A few of his closer friends always ask why he doesn't go to them, so he just tells them that he's too busy. He doesn't want them to think there's something wrong with him. Also, on his days off, Saul will sometimes volunteer at the local shelter in Barfield. He's always loved helping people in need, which is what he does there. He also sometimes misses working as a firefighter, but still thinks that being an inspector is much safer - especially since he has his wife, young daughter, and even possible future children.
Saul is the son of Elias Vega and Maria Romero. His parents had always been there for him when he was growing up. His father may have been working a majority of the time, but he still always tried to spend time with Saul and Jeremiah, Saul's older brother by two years. Maria was a stay at home mom for most of Saul's life until she decided to get a job as a bartender when he was ten. Still, she was a mother who dedicated her life to her two sons. She always wanted the best for them and for them to grow up to be excellent young men. Jeremiah and Saul were also close as they were growing up, even if they were complete opposites of each other. Jeremiah was always more rambunctious and trouble-making, while Saul was outgoing and charismatic. Still, the two were able to get along and had only a few dumb fights growing up.
When Saul was fifteen, he met Rebekah Soto in school. They began dating and only broke up a few times while together. He proposed to her when he was twenty-three and they married when he was twenty-seven. Their relationship sometimes consists of them arguing with one another over petty things, but in all they still deeply care and love one another.
At the age of twenty-eight, Saul and Rebekah had a child together. They named her Marina Vega Soto. She's currently three years old and will be turning four this summer. He absolutely loves his daughter and is always making sure to take care of her. He only wants whats best for her. He basically adores her and she's his entire world. He'll often play with her whenever he's off work because he wants to make sure she always has chances to spend time with him. He knows that it was hard having a father who wasn't able to spend much time with him when he was a kid, so Saul doesn't want his daughter to go through that.
Nayana Hawke probably.
